PS3 Slim shipping this month?
Looks like that new slim redesign of the PS3 may be closer than expected, with units reportedly to start shipping out units this month. According to playstationbeyond, a Taiwanese site, UDN, claims that Sony has officially signed the orders for the new units to begin shipping. From the site itself:
“Upstream component makers that the new Sony PS3 console OEM orders formally approved last week, of which Hon Hai Heshuo pie with 50 percent of all orders, is expected to ship from the beginning of July to meet the summer demand.”
Also of note is the mention that the new PS3 motion controller(s) shown at E3, and is said to be launching next Spring, but no specific date or name has been announced as of yet. It looks like Sony is really getting their big guns ready, with the slim possibly shipping this month. Granted, it’s entirely possible that this could be for the Eastern territory only, and the West won’t be seeing it for a while, but there is no indication either way, as Sony still refuses to officially acknowledge it’s existence outside of this alleged quote from a representative.
