World of Warcraft Reaches 11.5 Million Subscriptions
Blizzard announced today that its MMO World of Warcraft has reached over 11.5 million subscriptions. Known as the most succesful MMORPG ever to be released the game is benefiting fromt he recent release of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.
Subscription numbers are based off active accounts and do not represent past subscriptions. No other MMO to date can boast such numbers and World of Warcraft has monopolized the genre for the past five years. Blizzard also announced it will be looking to hire more employees to keep up with growth.
Sales for Blizzard are not decreasing due to the economy but in fact increasing. Bob Mckenzie of Gamestop says that sales for Blizzard are doing better then the year before.
