Hellgate London Continuing as Free to Play
Gamasutra is reporting that while the servers were meant to be closing on January 31, the IP owner Hanbitsoft will be taking over from the publisher Namco-Bandai and continuing to run servers. Namco who co-published with EA still claim to own the Western publishing rights and are the ones terminating the Western Servers. It is therefore unclear whether Hanbitsoft will be running western servers or offering an English Language version on foreign servers to circumvent possible legal problems. As well as the continued server support Hanbitsoft also announced plans for a major update to the game including combining the two game play modes and other game balance adjustments. Now the only question is are their sufficient people who actually care what happens to Hellgate London?
