Obama: Video Games A Health Risk
President Barrack Obama has stated that video games are a health risk in a speech to the American Medical Association.
President Obama said:
βThe second step that we can all agree on is to invest more in preventive care so that we can avoid illness and disease in the first place. That starts with each of us taking more responsibility for our health and the health of our children. It means quitting smoking, going in for that mammogram or colon cancer screening. It means going for a run or hitting the gym, and raising our children to step away from the video games and spend more time playing outside.β
To be fair, at no point does the above come across as scare mongering or a misunderstanding of what gaming is. Lets face it, sitting on your butt playing games isn’t massively healthy in terms of keeping you fit and the President isn’t saying they should be banned or even stopped altogether, just that kids should be encouraged to play outside. The president has yet to buy Wii Fit for his White House based console yet I take it.
