Left 4 Dead 2 Updated Through Steam
Despite being on sale in the UK and USA for less than a week, Valve have seen fit to release an update for Left 4 Dead 2.
Fixing numerous issues, some of which are mainly back end, the update does include one useful new addition: being able to select game modes on the main menu with a keyboard.
Of course, this is a Steam update so is more relevant to players using their PC to run the game but the early support for the game is promising. It’ll certainly go some way to preventing a Left 4 Dead 3 boycott.
Here are the full details of the update that will be applied when you next load Steam:
- Fixed performance problem when rendering lots of decals, notably when fighting tanks with shotguns
- Fixed rcon response not working on Linux dedicated servers
- Fixed matchmaking problem matching into Advanced and Expert games
- Fix bug that would cause other specials to try to pummel a player a Charger disconnects or reconnects
- Fixed versus mode results panel being cut off in transition stats screen in non-english
- Found games: fixed non-player entries drawing the wrong type of icon in the selected item name label
- Game mode selector on main menu now takes keyboard input
