Jagex Helps Bust Account Thief
Jagex are certainly establishing themselves as vigilantes/superheroes- following their attempts to stop the nefarious attack of the sentient turkeys, the UK based developer went on to assist police in busting an account thief. Later on, the community manager went on to form a crime fighting troupe and is current thwarting Lex Luther’s plans for world domination as I type.
Jagex CEO, Mark Gerhard valiantly had this to say:
Where there is any evidence to suggest someone has committed a crime, as is clearly the case with any phishing or hijacking, we work closely with law enforcement agencies around the world to bring these people to account.
The fiend stole player’s accounts through phising websites, a site which misleads players into entering their account details. The Jagex team went on to work closely with PCeU detectives in apprehending the 23 year old male.
