Guild Wars 2 Coming in 2011
Guild Wars released in 2005 to a critical response that was utterly positive. In 2007, NCsoft announced the sequel, and the development has been slow. Despite the setbacks, Guild Wars 2 is set for release in 2011. The game was supposed to go into testing in 09, and release in 2010, so the delay of a year is not too bad. As of now, the game will go into testing next year. According to Gamespot, NCsoft West’s CEO, Jaeho Lee, had this to say about the game’s release:
I believe there will be a certain public event in the year 2010, so at this point it could be at least a closed beta test for [Guild Wars 2 and Korea-oriented martial-arms MMOG Blade & Soul],” he said. “The commercialization will be expected at this point probably sometime in the year 2011.
Guild Wars 2 is highly anticipated even though very little is known about the game. These expectations come simply because Guild Wars was so good. It should be very interesting to see how this title progresses over the next year or two of development.
