DSi XL Confirmed for US and EU in Q1 2010

The DSi XL (DSi LL in Japan), release dates have been confirmed. The Japanese release is set for November 21, and Nintendo has established Q1 2010 for both the North American and European ship dates. This, the fourth version of Nintendo’s portable system boasts a number of improvements including two touch screens that are almost an inch larger than those of its predecessor. That extra space does not lead to a sacrifice in battery time either. Expected battery life matches the specs of the DS Lite. Combining the larger screen with the enhanced battery life should help the DSi XL separate itself drastically from previous versions of the technology. While it is easy to argue that Nintendo is going a bit overboard by releasing so many versions of the wildly popular handheld, the product keeps selling. This particular model is especially noteworthy when it comes to potential angst, as according to destructoid, DSiWare games will be lost upon upgrading. Nintendo seems to be banking on the size increase to bring out a new audience. The system will release with three color options, dark brown, burgundy and natural white.
