This generation has been one of upheaval, the death of old franchises, and the birth of amazing new ones. We’ve seen Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy switch from former Sony exclusivity, but will we see any Microsoft exclusive titles move to multiplatform? There were those rumors that Mass Effect 2 would be released for the PS3, but were essentially squashed.

Accoreding to Ubisoft Toronto and Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat, Splinter Cell won’t be following suit. During a finance conference call, he had this to say:

“Until futher notice [the franchise is staying on Xbox 360]. However, I’m only the one making the games, you should talk to the people in Paris [for a final answer].”

And there you have it, as far as the CEO knows, Splinter Cell is staying on the 360. I find it strange that two third person shooters, what I think the PS3 does best, are both staying on the 360 and both had rumors about them. Maybe I’m being paranoid, or maybe it’s the purposeful spread of misinformation. Conspiracy!
