More rumors of Dead Space 2 coming next year
I always find it hilarious when a publisher accidentally reveals a top-secret game that they’ve got in development that they were saving for justthe right moment to show it off in the most flashy way possible, and it’s spoiled by something boring. There have been rumors of Dead Space 2 for a couple months, also of the boring variety.
The first evidence was, to me, the enormous storm of spin-offs and side projects coming from Dead Space. A motion comic, a regular comic, a movie, and recently, the prequel game. Although none of that is really evidence, it shows that EA was really getting behind Dead Space.
But now, there is some decisive evidence in the form of a claim from Reuters. From an article all about how popular scary games are:
“The publisher [EA] recently shipped “Dead Space: Extraction” for Wii, which is a prequel to last fall’s Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC hit. “Dead Space 2″ is in development for next year.”
This is just one source, but they may have their sources, know it to be fact, and have accidentally included it without realizing it hasn’t been announced yet. Or it could be total bull, and them just hoping someone noticed to get massive clicks. This is just be speculating, but the evidence is starting to stack up.
After beating Dead Space just two days ago, I’m not sure there needs to be a Dead Space 2, just like I’m not sure there needs to be a Bioshock 2. We’ll see if Bioshock 2 convinces me it’s worthy, and then I might give Dead Space 2 some consideration…if it exists.
