Increase Your IQ by Playing Madden…
…your football IQ anyways.
An online survey (conducted in July of 2008) of 15,000 football fans both gamers and non-gamers alike found that football fans that played Madden were 60% more knowledgeable than their non-playing counterparts. The survey, conducted by Oregon University’s Warsaw Sports Marketing Center, consisted of 36 questions spanning 5 categories: game situations, general knowledge, history, rules, and business of sport.
“The survey found that those who played Madden were 79 percent better in general knowledge of the game, 54 percent better when being quizzed about game situations, and 28 percent better on rules of the game.”
The average Madden player’s scored a 22 on the survey while the average non-gamer came in at a lowly 14. The results also suggest that the more Madden someone plays, the more knowledgeable about the game they become: rarely-20.4; less than 1 hour a week-20.9; 1 to 5 hours a week-21.4; 6 to 10 hours a week-22.4; and 10 plus hours a week-22.7.
The test had a three percent margin of error and was commissioned by EA the maker of the Madden franchise.
