Halo won’t stop until you ask, no means no!
I think that Halo is reaching it’s saturation point. Well, if not, it’s close. I think once we’ve got kids running around with Halo lunchboxes that it’s been pushed as hard as it can go.
Frank O’Connor, famed creative-guy at Bungie turned creative director of 343 Industries is worried. I’d say that he’s specifically afraid of the dreaded lunchbox, but no specifics are given, just that when saturation came up in an interview with Joystiq he said:
“I worry about that constantly. All of that stuff has existed in the past, and it exists because of one simple reason, which is demand. We wouldn’t make it if we weren’t continually being asked for it.”
I’m not sure who asked for Halo Wars or the rage-inducing ending of Halo 2, but I’d like to…meet them. Don’t get me wrong, Halo Wars was moderate but…who asked for a Halo RTS?
Like I said, I think Halo has reached it’s peak, and if it hasn’t, I’d expect Reach to be that peak. Even after those ‘leaked’ picture of Reach that look frightfully similar to the Halo 3 engine, I have high hopes.
Now that I think about it, what would be on a Halo lunchbox? Concept art? Box art?
