Possible Final Fantasy 13 announcement coming November 13th
Where most companies give you some weird countdown screen, maybe a hidden piece of code accidentally revealing what it is, Square Enix gives us a simple line of text: A Henchmen Inventor Tent Unto
The text doesn’t make a whole lot of sense before you unscramble it. Some kids have managed to crack the code, turning gibberish into: Announcement Nov Thirteenth.
Is this hard evidence? Not really, SE could have wanted to to unscramble it into more gibberish that they’ll reveal the meaning of sometime in the future. Having an announcement for FF13 on November 13 seems like too much of an opportunity though, and having a relatively easy riddle means people will solve it, tell others, and get excited by the 13th.
Besides the release date, as 1up points out, there isn’t very much to reveal. Certainly nothing that could warrant scrambling words and sending the internet on a wild goose chase, besides the release date that is. Maybe a PC version? We haven’t had a PC version of a console Final Fantasy since FFIX.
I’m still hoping that one day, some developer will have a surprise launch, like Sega with the Saturn (or was it CD?), telling people at a trade show that their product will be in stores in a day or so.
The only problem is that with everyone wanting internet fame, anyone who finds any trace of something like this being shipped would take pics, and it would be ruined by the internet. To live in the past, where all the internet was good for was chat rooms and primitive MMOs…
We’ll see if the announcement is right, as it’s going to be revealed on Monday (tomorrow).
