Video Games Live to be Broadcast

Video Games Live performs video game music in a live setting. This is getting changed up a bit coming July 31st, when a 90-minute performance will be televised on PBS.

This broadcast performance is overlapping with the release of  the CD and DVD/Blu-ray recordings of previous performances. According to the press release, the CD will hold 16 tracks and the DVD/Blu-ray will contain the following:

“Over three hours of bonus material, including additional and extended music segments, composer and game developer interviews, exclusive game trailers, ‘making the game’ documentaries, behind-the-scenes footage and composer commentary.”

For a quick look, check out the trailer below featuring nine short segments that will be featured in the broadcast.

For those of you who live in the Bay Area and Northern California you’ll be getting an early showing. The first will be played this Monday, June 7th at 7:30 p.m. on the PBS station KQED Public Television 9, and will be played again later that night at 1:30 a.m..
