 RAGE Gets a New Publisher

Bethesda Softworks, the folks behind Fallout, Wet, The Elder Scrolls and a few other franchises that you might have heard of, have wrestled publishing rights for RAGE from Electronic Arts. This move actually makes a lot of sense, as Bethesda is controlled by ZeniMax Media inc., a parent company of id Software, the development studio behind RAGE. The fact that the game has natural ties between the developer and publisher makes the move a no brainer.

RAGE is a high octane action title that hopes to redefine what a first person shooter is capable of by employing the new id Tech5 game engine. Electronic Arts, the original publisher of RAGE, is no longer expected to have any official influence on the game. This transition in publishers is not expected to affect the development cycle in any way. RAGE is currently set to release on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC and Mac. The estimated date for release has not yet been announced.
