present Games Can do Good“Orphan Diseases,” a term used to describe rare and often neglected diseases, can turn the life of any family upside down. Unlike well known conditions, these orphans are given little when it comes to research funds and new treatments. Families who face these plaques are almost powerless to save their loved ones, and could really use some support. One organization, DonateGames.org, is working to use video games to solve that problem.

According to Welbush Morgan, and industry analyst firm, used video games make up a third of all games sales in the United States. Millions of games are traded in and sold at retail venues nationwide. This knowledge inspired Jim Carol to set up this non-profit organization after his own child recovered from one of these orphan diseases. He points out that:

Our user-friendly model takes charitable giving to a whole new level of fun and interactivity, presenting families with a unique way to extend their holiday generosity. We’ve streamlined the process of raising rare disease support for hurting children who need our attention—and deserve our kindness during this season of giving. Donate Games, save lives. It’s that easy.

There are two ways that you can help this young charity. The easy way is to buy your used games from them. The harder way, is to donate your own games to them. A great place to start would be using their service to pick up some Christmas stocking stuffers. For more information on DonateGames.org and how you can help, visit www.DonateGames.org.
