BanHammer Strikes CrimeCraft
Being a gamer in Australia takes dedication. Between exorbitant prices, delayed releases and the banning of seemingly every other game, it’s a fate I don’t pity.
That being said, The Australian Classification Board has struck again, this time smacking down approval for Vogster’s CrimeCraft. The board has cited the game’s drug content as the reason, saying it doesn’t do enough to delineate between in game and real world proscribed drugs.
In the past companies who have had problems with the classification board have been able to rework their games to make them acceptable for release, much like how movie makers in the US that receive a NC 17 rating can edit and resubmit their films.
The reason Australia bans so many games is that it’s rating system does not have a Mature/ 18+ equivalent, so any game that would fall under that classification cannot be rated.
Now by all accounts CrimeCraft isn’t a good game per se, but still, that’s one less option for Australian gamers.
Stay strong my Australian brethren! The day will come when CrimeCraft can be freely played by your children, and M ratings will be plentiful; or something like that…
