Midwest Nerds Podcast #12 – The Bat of Justice
We open the show this week with a talk about daytime TV…. don’t worry, it doesn’t last long. In Recent and Rediscovered Joel and Steve talk about their not so secret love of Dragon Age origins and how it is sucking their life away. Also we talk about the Left 4 Dead 2 demo on Xbox LIVE. In Tour de Blogz, we talk about the bagillion copies of Modern Warfare 2 that were sold in its first day, Assassin’s Creed review minimums, and Nick explains why he isn’t bitter at all about the new Xbox LIVE update going public on November 17th.

In our third segment we call Gaming Gone Bad, we share personal experiences where games have taken our lives away for hours, days, or, in Joel’s case, months. Steve brings us a real treat this week in his zombie tip by discussing what to do if you ever find yourself running low on food. The obvious solution to a lack of food is the zombolympics.

I want to share my story of being consumed by a video game. Resident zombie expert Steve and I spent the entire summer of 2005 playing through FFVII. The routine went like this: (1) Start playing around 6 or 7pm; (2) Play constantly until 1:30am; (3) Make a Taco Bell run at 2am before it closed for the night; (4) Eat Taco Bell while playing FFVII until about 4 or 5am; (5) Sleep until 3pm the next day; (6) Repeat. It got to the point where we went to his lake cabin and spent an entire weekend playing FFVII inside the cabin and basically never went outside. When the summer finally passed (and after I realized how pale my skin still was) I realized how pathetically awesome that summer was. Those were the days…
