UPDATE 4: Resistance 2 Beta – I Have Access to Both UK and US Betas

UPDATE 4: I’ve just received a new email from GameStop.com as I also pre-ordered the US version of Resistance 2, this email was also about the Resistance 2 beta and this is what they said:

The official start date for the beta has not be announced. To check for updates and news on the official start date, please visit, http://register.myresistance.net.

Your Beta Code is CAN’T DISPLAY AS THIS IS MY CODE

1. To http://register.myresistance.net and enter your beta code and qualify for the Resistance 2 Open Beta.

2. While at http://register.myresistance.net, you will need to provide your PLAYSTATION Network Online ID and e-mail address. In order to process your enlistment, you will also need to agree to the Open Beta Trial Agreement.

3. Once the Open Beta is available, your Beta Voucher will be emailed to you at the address your provided when you registered.

Beings as I’m a UK citizen and have pre-ordered both the UK and US versions of Resistance 2 I now have access to the UK and US open Betas for Resistance 2 and I will be testing out both versions of this beta and fighting against people in the UK and USA, see you all soon.

UPDATE 3: I’ve just received yet another new email from Play.com about the Resistance 2 beta and this is what they said:

Dear Play Customer,

Thank you for pre-ordering Resistance 2 PS3 from Play.com. Your pre-order BETA code is below. This alpha-numerical code will allow you to access the Resistance 2 BETA trial.

Please note that this is now the correct code and may we apologise again for sending the wrong codes out yesterday.

HOW TO USE YOUR PRE-ORDER BETA CODE:

You’ll need an access to the Playstation store from your PS3. (An internet connection is required for this)

How to download your trial version

If you haven’t already done so, register for an account on PlayStation®Network, then follow these steps:

1. Sign in to your PlayStation®Network account via your PLAYSTATION®3 system, or alternatively via PlayStation®Store on PC at store.playstation.com using the [Sign In/Sign Up] button.

2. Once signed in, select [Account Management].

3. Choose [Redeem Code].

4. Enter your 12 character promotion code and select [Continue]. NOTE: promotion codes are case sensitive and must be entered exactly as displayed.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to redeem the promotion code

Finally us Europeans and UK citizens have received our Resistance 2 Beta Codes and we can now gain access to the beta and play away until 13th November 2008, luckily I have pre-ordered the US version of Resistance 2 as well as the UK version of the game so I will be playing the full version of Resistance 2 online from 5th November 2008.

UPDATE 2: I’ve just received a new email from Play.com about the errors with the Resistance 2 beta and this is what they said:

Dear Customer
Thank you for your recent pre-order for Resistance 2 (PS3).

We have been made aware by Sony that due to an administration error the BETA access code we recently emailed you is incorrect, and therefore will not work.

Sony are currently working to resolve this issue and we will email you a new code in the next 48 hours.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused in this matter and thank you for your patience.

Well is looks like us Europeans and UK citizens will have to wait until the latest of Thursday 23rd October 2008 for our Resistance 2 Beta Codes, It’s yet another delay on SCEE part, still a delay is a delay. Share your opinions in our comments section.

UPDATE: I spoke with SCEE and Play.com less than 20 minutes ago and I am assurred that new codes will be issued to everyone who preordered Resistance 2 on Wednesday 22nd October 2008, this will link us all to the new beta that is put at around 2.2 GB, at least it’s not a HUGE delay, but a delay is a delay.

Original Story: Today people in the UK who preordered Resistance 2 via Play.com were supposed to receive their beta codes, well they got their codes (myself included) and me and many others headed off to download their Resistance 2 beta.

The code worked fine, the beta file appeared which was 1.7GB in size and I downloaded it just fine, I successfully installed it and went to play it but none of the servers were working and I thought hold on, what’s going on here?

Well to give you the full story SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) had uploaded the wrong beta file, they had uploaded the private beta that took place in the US in September and now those servers are close (this is the old beta called “Girl With A Stick”), well now the code receieved from Play.com don’t work and we’re stranded without codes or a beta and left to wait AGAIN. Come on SCEE do something right for a change, sort out this beta and give us all new codes.
